Seven Step Guide To: Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Holistic Wellness Health

IMG_0267+2.jpg

I once had a teenager tell me that she tried EVERYTHING to feel better.

That is not possible.

And even if you somehow managed to accomplish trying everything to help your mental healthcare, you are changing and evolving human throughout time, so what might not work at one time in your life might then work later, or visa versa. So, you have to try the same thing multiple times throughout your life to know if it worked or not.

I Know. It’s Overwhelming, But You Are Worth It.

Here are seven steps to guide you in your spiritual, emotional, mental, holistic wellness health care that should keep you busy until you’re 90.

First, A Question:

  1. Did Something Recently Happen To Make This Mental Health Problem Like: A Death, Illness, Accident, Loss, Bad Grade, Break Up, Pregnancy, Miscarriage, Divorce, Etc…?

If Yes,

You are feeling normal feelings that are unpleasant and uncomfortable. You cannot and will not feel the same feelings forever because you are a human capable of the full range of human emotions. It’s ok to feel bad during these times. It’s ok to cry, stay in bed, sleep for weeks, eat less, work out more, burst into tears spontaneously, be cranky or angry out of nowhere--something bad happened, and you can feel for it. Wait. You will feel better. You will adjust.

Or, No, Not Exactly:

2. I’ve Felt Bad For A Really Long Time, And It’s Not Changing Or Getting Worse, And I’m Afraid I Might Die Or Cease To Function In My Family And Society Soon…

If the list is too much, then skip ahead to steps 3, 4, or 7.

Skip To #3 & #4 - Therapy. Or, To Save Time: Step 7.

Here are some things to try* if you don’t want to do therapy right away.

Try Therapy:

3. While Trying All Or Some Of The Things* Make Sure You Are Also Talking To A Therapist WEEKLY For At Least Until You Feel Better.

*Not an exhaustive list.

If you don’t like your therapist, find a new one. Or see three and pick your fav, and stick with them for as long as you feel bad. (But make sure to track your progress--set goals, look back on said goals.)

I repeat: STAY WITH A THERAPIST FOR UNTIL YOU FEEL BETTER OR THEY KICK YOU OUT.

Study after study shows that the most important factor in success of your treatment is your relationship with the therapist, your experience of “feeling felt.” This matters more than the therapist’s training, the kind of therapy they do, or what type of problem you have. -Lori Gottlieb Maybe You Should Talk To Someone 2019

This is how therapy works people!

4. Try Some Different Types Of Therapy. There Are Hundreds Of Types Of Therapy Out There.

Ask your therapist what kind of therapy they do. Explore something new together.

Still No Dice... But Chances Are If You Did The Above Steps To Their Fullest Degree Then The Below Will Not Happen--

5. It’s Been 20 Years, And Everything Gets Worse, You Stop Working, Your Family Abandons You, You’re Homeless, And Want To Die--Then See A Psychiatrist, And Get A Prescription.

Many people start here out of fear that #5 will happen or is happening already (without having attempted steps 1-4), OR they perceive they have no time or worth enough to try the exhaustive mental health list.

Then again,

6. AH! It’s Still Not Working!

Try another or some combo until you find the right cocktail, or your psychiatrist gives up and starts asking about your diet.

Or,

7. Do Emotional Polarity Technique, Forgive, And Feel Better Despite Steps 1-6, Because, Darn-It, You Are A Beautiful Amazing Loved Divine Creation And You Don’t Need Fixed, You Just Need To Be Loved And Feel It And Know It And Believe It.

Forgiveness For The Road:

I forgive myself for believing

  • My issues aren’t that bad, and I don’t need help.

  • I have not time

  • I’m not worth the effort

  • My issues aren’t worth the effort.

  • Mental, emotional, and spiritual health are a waste of time.

  • I’m a waste of time

  • I don’t matter.

  • I’ll be judged or shamed if I get help.

I forgive others for not seeing my value.

I forgive others for being angry when I take care of myself.

I forgive others for being angry when I don’t take care of myself.

I give other permission to forgive me when I don’t think their problems are big enough to need help.

I give myself permission to accept

  • I am worthy of help.

  • I am brave when I get help.

  • I am a good example to my friends, family, and children.

  • The unhealthy cycle stops here.

I am free to try.

I am free to know I’m worth it.

I am free to love myself and others better.
