Holistic Healing For Teens
Trauma that occurs during childhood and the formative years can have a profound impact on a person’s life moving forward. The teen years are already difficult enough due to physical and emotional changes, and Emotional Polarity Technique™ can help your teen heal any past trauma so they can move forward with forgiveness to become the person that they were meant to be!
Here at Open Heart Holistic Therapy, about 10% of my clients are teens. Let’s take a look at how holistic therapy can help teens live healthier lives:
Anger in Teens
Anger is an emotion that many teens deal with and struggle with. Often, teens become angry or anxious based on family problems, relationships with their friends, academic struggles, and self-perception or self-esteem, etc. While anger is not always unhealthy or unjustified, it can become an issue when your teen is chronically angry, or if it is associated with a deeper hurt or trauma that can remain with a person indefinitely.
This is where EPT™ comes in! Forgiveness is a powerful tool that can be used to find the root cause of your teen’s anger and offers a non-aggressive approach to coping with the issues that cause anger. By forgoing resentment, anger, and rage, your teen can learn how to respond positively and heal the wrong with the power of forgiveness.
Find the root of your teen’s pain, anger, or anxiety. Let it go with forgiveness therapy. Appointments can be in person or via video/phone chat. Call Open Heart Holistic Therapy for your free 30-minute conversation today!
Anxiety in Teens
The world can be a scary place, especially so this past year with the COVID-19 pandemic. Anxiety is common in many teens, and as many as 1 in 3 teenagers are suffering from an anxiety disorder. While the exact cause of anxiety is unknown, there are numerous contributing factors, especially for teens.
Some factors influencing teen anxiety include:
The pressure to succeed and high parental expectations.
The world around them. There has been an increase in school shootings, resulting in drills and lockdowns in many schools. Not to mention the pandemic that has upended daily life as we know it! Many teens may be feeling isolated and increased anxiety right now.
Social media is a big one! Today’s teens are connected with social media constantly. It’s not surprising that their self-esteem becomes connected to the likes and comments that they receive online. It’s so easy for them to compare themselves to their friends, celebrities, and the “highlight reels,” that people post on their social pages. Talk about anxiety-inducing!

Impact of Anxiety for Teens
Whatever the cause, anxiety is a major problem for our teens! Chronic anxiety in teens can lead to some very serious mental health problems such as depression, substance abuse, and tragically even suicide. This anxiety can interfere with focus at school which can have a lifelong impact. As if this wasn’t bad enough, anxiety can also lead to physical problems that manifest as headaches, chronic pain, stomachaches, and later in life: heart disease.
So, what can you do to help your teen who has anxiety? Well, first, we take a few steps to loosen the grip that anxiety has on your teen. It can go a little like this:
First, I teach your teen to let go of the fact that the answer is rarely logical or rational.
Then, we discuss that the root of their anxiety is going to reveal something about them that they might not want to know.
Then, we move forward and I teach them how to forgive, learn, and heal. The body has answers to tell your teen. I teach them how to listen!
Forgiveness is a powerful tool and allows teens to move forward and let go. True forgiveness begins in the heart when someone truly forgives an offense. Let’s chat – I offer a free 30-minute consultation. I’m here to listen; call an EPT therapist now.
A Holistic Approach to Teen Mental Health
At Open Heart Holistic, I firmly believe in taking a holistic approach that treats the entire person. Your teen’s emotional, physical, and spiritual needs are equally important. Believe it or not, diet can have a profound impact on a teens mental health. Taking steps to get the proper nutrition and lower sugar intake can help to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Though, this approach requires a lot of support and discipline for the whole family. Holistic teen treatment is based on the belief that compassion and forgiveness are key to healing, and unconditional love and support are necessary for healing.
I know you think they should act like and adult, but your teen’s brain and nervous system are still growing and changing, so it is important to teach them how to care for themselves, and how to forgive past traumas so they don’t become stuck or fall prey to negative thoughts or behaviors. This allows them to become the person they were always meant to be, unhindered by the past, to help them grow and thrive throughout their lives.
Share these forgiveness and affirmation statements with your teen to help them show up and love themselves with the gift of emotional health:
I forgive myself for believing my life is too overwhelming.
I forgive myself for comparing myself to others and having negative thoughts.
I forgive myself for being angry.
I forgive myself for believing no one will be able to help me.
I forgive myself for believing no one wants to help me.
I forgive myself for believing I don’t deserve attention and love.
I love and accept myself even when I’m afraid I can’t show up for myself.
I give myself permission to get help.
I give myself permission to love myself whether I get worse, stay the same, or get better.
