Will My Kids Be Alright Going Back To School (or Not?)
It’s Back To School.
School has been a major stress through the past year and a half, and whether your child has been on zoom school through the pandemic (and beyond), or is returning to in-person school for the first time since March 2020, this is the encouragement you have been looking for.
First of all, I would like to affirm you.
You are doing a good job.
The past 18 months have been a crazy roller coaster for everyone. You are making the best choices you can make with the information you have been given. You are a good parent. You are not alone.
Also, the kids are going to be okay.
Yes, it has been a rough year, but kids are resilient. Kids don’t need a million choices or to be surrounded by large groups to socialize. They only need your confidence, love, compassion, and authenticity to get through this tough season. You did it! You are doing it!
It feels super overwhelming to still be dealing with all of this, but the kids are going to make it through, and you can rest assured they will socialize, adapt, make friends, find their passions, and grow up healthy.
I know that I cannot guarantee this, but we hope beyond hope. And if you are someone who feels like things are only getting worse (and maybe they are), here are some affirmations to help.
I love and accept myself even when I’m afraid things will be worse.
I love and accept myself even when I’m afraid I’m going to do my best as a parent and things will be worse.
I give myself permission to accept I am doing my best.
I give myself permission to accept doing my best does not prevent bad things from happening.
I give myself permission to feel competent, worthy, and secure doing my best even when things get worse.
I give myself permission to love myself and others being good enough.
I give myself permission to love and accept myself as a good enough parent.
I give myself permission to love and accept my parents as good enough.
I give myself permission to feel confident and secure in my kids growth, development, relationships, and healing.
Wherever this little blog post finds you, remember that what makes your kids healthy is your ability to manage the best you, making the best choices you believing you can make, and they will be good.
